Six years and two months after former President Bush stood under the infamous "Mission Accomplished" banner atop the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln and announced the end of major combat operations in Iraq, United States combat troops have removed themselves from Iraq's urban areas into more secure and remote bases of operations. Mission [Now] Accomplished
Thoughtful Post.
As beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so is mission accomplished.
I am satisfied that Saddam is removed from power. His crimes against humanity made him a clear bad guy. If nothing else was accomplished, I am satisfied with that achievement.
It would have been better if the rest of the world pulled their share of the workload but not required.
I understand that socialist Europe no longer has the military strenght to project power.
I understand the reluctance of Arab States to distrust the West.
Many in the Arab World view the U.S. as a clone of Europe. They do not understand our history, our values are different than Europe's.
